Industrial Labelling Systems (ILS), a UK-based supplier of print and apply labelling systems for manufacturing and logistics environments, is responding to growing interest in reducing compressed air usage by introducing QuickTamp Airless from Evolabel, an airless box labelling option for variable-height applications.

Compressed air is widely used within automated label application, where pneumatically assisted applicators have long provided reliable performance across many production environments. Across a growing number of facilities, compressed air infrastructure is under review as sites assess energy usage, limits on air supply, space constraints and longer-term production planning.
Compressed air typically requires local pipework, connection to shared air systems and ongoing maintenance of associated components. While pneumatically assisted labelling systems remain appropriate for many operations, some sites are exploring alternatives in areas where reducing air usage could simplify installations or reduce reliance on shared utilities.
QuickTamp Airless provides a practical route to reducing air dependency in box labelling applications without requiring changes to conveyor layout or overall line design. Developed by Evolabel, the solution is based on the established QuickTamp applicator platform and is intended for operations handling variable-height cartons, such as logistics, distribution and e-commerce fulfilment.
QuickTamp Airless operates without compressed air at the point of application. This removes the need for a local air supply to the applicator, helping reduce ancillary equipment associated with air supply at the labelling position and supporting more compact installations. The system is designed to operate at production speed, maintaining consistent label placement on cartons of varying heights.
ILS’s print and apply systems are already designed to limit compressed air usage by favouring electrically driven mechanisms over fully pneumatic designs. QuickTamp Airless extends this approach further by removing air from the applicator stage entirely, reducing dependence on shared air infrastructure and minimising disruption linked to air supply maintenance or changes elsewhere on site.
QuickTamp Airless can be supplied by ILS as part of a new print and apply system or as a retrofit upgrade for existing QuickTamp installations. This enables businesses to adapt current equipment in line with changing operational requirements without the cost or disruption of replacing complete labelling systems.
Industrial Labelling Systems supplies and supports Evolabel labelling solutions across the UK and Ireland. The company works closely with customers to assess operational requirements and specify labelling systems that support both current production needs and future planning.
