The pallet market is robust and resilient, with steady growth and strong service levels, the latest figures reveal. Total pallet volumes to the end of September 2025 were 2.3% higher than the same period in 2024, with more than 22.6 million pallets being delivered by the UK’s eight ambient pallet networks, according to the Association of Pallet Networks (APN). The UK’s pallet networks have managed this growth well, with service levels showing 96% of all consignments are delivered within specified criteria, and trailer utilisation at 14%, well above the national average of articulated vehicles.

For an organisation built on precision, partnership, and performance, “ON TARGET!” proved a fitting theme for the UPN Annual Awards 2025. The United Pallet Network palletised freight distribution network now connects and coordinates palletised freight movements between over 100 partners. The event at the East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) brought together members from across the network for a celebration that combined competition, charity fundraising, recognition, and social connection.

Palletline, the UK’s number one palletised freight distribution network, has announced a significant leadership transition in line with the continued rollout of its ambitious five-year strategic roadmap. Board Chair Forsyth Black announced that he would be stepping down from his role in June 2026 at the end of his three-year contracted term. He will be succeeded by current Chief Executive Officer Graham Leitch, who has led Palletline for 11 years and will formally assume the role of Chair in July 2026.

Pall-Ex Group, a leading pallet distribution network, is proud to celebrate two years of its Charitable Foundation, a milestone that reflects the business’s commitment to making a positive impact in the local community. Since its launch in November 2023, the Pall-Ex Group Charitable Foundation has supported 40 separate causes, including veterans’ charities, homeless initiatives, and grassroots sports teams. The foundation offers a dedicated platform where staff, network members and individuals in the local community can request donations for causes close to their hearts.

A West Midlands-based pallet network has exceeded its ambitious target to fund a life-saving Critical Care Car. Pallet-Track, based in Wolverhampton, hosted multiple fundraising events to help smash its £75,000 target in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, raising a total of £88,959 over the last three years. Its donations have been used to fund a Critical Care Car, which has supported the charity’s recently announced nighttime operations and ensured 24-hour emergency cover for those in need during this time.

As the volumes of pallets being moved continues to increase, it is critical that the highest levels of service are maintained.
