Shipping software specialist Shipster has announced a new move into warehouse visibility and quality control technology with an integration that connects its platform to camera systems.

Tony Cheetham, CEO and Damian Donnelly, COO.

The development gives ecommerce warehouses, online retailers, and distributors a secure visual audit trail for every shipment, helping them reduce errors, prevent fraud, and strengthen customer trust while improving throughput and operational efficiency.

Each time an order is processed through Shipster, the system links it to live footage from the packing bench. Key details such as the order number, items, and time of packing are passed to the camera system, creating a synchronised video record of exactly what was dispatched.

The integration is fully configurable and hardware agnostic, meaning it can work with any modern camera system. Retailers can decide which data points to link, from SKUs and batch numbers to camera IDs, providing tailored traceability for high-value, fragile, or regulated goods while strengthening compliance, WMS connectivity, and operational oversight.

The integration has already been deployed for a number of Shipster customers, demonstrating growing demand for greater visibility and audit trails in fulfilment.

Tony Cheetham, Founder and CEO of Shipster, said: “Customers are demanding greater visibility and accountability at the packing bench, and this integration delivers exactly that. By linking order data with video, we help warehouses reduce errors, resolve disputes faster, and deliver the transparency that fosters trust. This is about more than today’s audit trail: it lays the groundwork for tomorrow’s AI-enabled fulfilment, where automation and intelligence will define efficiency and accuracy.”

The approach also opens up new opportunities in sectors where visibility is critical, including luxury fashion, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and perishables. Beyond resolving disputes or verifying orders, retailers could even offer customers a secure video of their order being dispatched, or apply AI-driven insights from packing-bench data to identify inefficiencies and improve warehouse performance.

Shipster’s latest innovation arrives at a time when returns, shrinkage, and fulfilment mistakes are costing the UK retail sector billions each year. With ecommerce return rates now hovering around 17.5 percent, costing retailers up to £60 billion annually, the pressure to deliver flawless fulfilment has never been greater. Shrinkage and theft are forecast to reach nearly £8 billion, while administrative errors already account for more than £1.2 billion a year. Accuracy, visibility, and robust audit trails are now essential for safeguarding margins and maintaining customer trust.
