2025 has been a landmark year for the Cold Chain Federation as we continue to champion the vital role our industry plays in keeping the UK supplied, safe, and sustainable.

In May, we launched our ‘Cold Chain is Critical’ campaign at our Parliamentary Reception, spotlighting how the cold chain underpins the UK economy, from ensuring food security to supporting the pharmaceutical sector. The campaign has resonated strongly across Westminster, with MPs and policymakers recognising the essential contribution of temperature-controlled logistics to the nation’s resilience and growth. Since its launch, we have continued to promote this message at major events, including the Labour Party Conference in September, helping to shape the wider national conversation around food resilience and supply chain stability.

October saw the return of our flagship event, Cold Chain Live!, where we unveiled our Cold Chain Report 2026. This year’s edition features a brand-new section on people in the industry, presenting CCF research into workforce demographics, recruitment trends, and the evolving challenges and opportunities faced by employers across the sector. Whilst our members are bucking the trend in good retention rates and recruitment initiatives, our research highlights areas for improvement such as an under representation of women and younger workers in key roles. These insights will inform our policy work and help us develop new initiatives to support members to diversify and futureproof their workforce.

Central to this is our Emerging Leaders Programme which has also taken centre stage this year. We celebrated the first cohort of our Emerging Leaders successfully completing their development programmes. Delivered in partnership with the Leadership Trust, this initiative continues to nurture the next generation of industry leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and networks to drive the sector forward in an ever-changing operating environment.

As we look to 2026, the Cold Chain Federation remains committed to supporting our members through advocacy, insight, and collaboration. We will continue to drive forward the Cold Chain is Critical message, push for policies that enable a more sustainable and resilient cold chain, and invest in the people who make this vibrant industry continue to thrive.
