Thanks to new innovations, member growth, and a demonstration at IMHX 2025, CFTS have had another successful year of growth, helping to protect operations nationwide.

Director at CFTS
Over the past decade there’s been a steady 10 percent rise in the number of Thorough Examinations undertaken by CFTS members. That has continued in 2025 and there are now more than 800 depots around the UK that are signed up to the scheme. This growth is a testament to the hard work of the team and the trust placed in CFTS by the industry.
However, members still face challenges such as managing schedules, staying on top of expiring certificates, and completing checklists. That’s why over the last 12 months, CFTS has been investing in their latest project – the CFTS Thorough Examination App. This is a digital tool designed specifically to make the life of members easier and more efficient.
Developed with input from professionals who know the industry, the app provides all the tools necessary to deliver reliable, consistent inspections every time. Users can expect streamlined workflows, comprehensive inspection tools, instant reporting, and much more, all aimed at making their lives and workdays easier.
The first opportunity to experience the app was at the CFTS stand at IMHX in September where live demonstrations were held, giving attendees a chance to experience it for the first time. It was an opportunity for members to see how it will transform inspections and simplify practices.
CFTS also launched their new Thorough Examinations podcast this year, as a go-to source for expert insights into lifting equipment inspections, compliance, and industry best practices. It includes expert interviews from CFTS Technical Managers and industry professionals.
The first episode was recorded while attending LAMMA 2025 regarding agriculture inspections. CFTS were on hand at the event to explain LOLER and PUWER, the risks of non-compliance, and the difference between routine maintenance and legally required inspections.
Looking ahead to 2026, the CFTS team will be expanding into their new headquarters and training facility as they invest in the future of themselves and their accredited companies.
The CFTS team will also be exhibiting at both LAMMA in 2026 and IMHX in 2027. These events present valuable opportunities to engage directly with the thousands of professionals attending, demonstrating the critical role of Thorough Examinations in ensuring safety and compliance.
