Suffolk New College will be the first institute of further education in the UK to offer individuals and businesses in the region the opportunity to attend a dedicated Warehouse Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) course, with 50% funding for the first twelve places booked.

Developed by logistics and supply chain experts on behalf of the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) and independently accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT UK), the Warehouse Manager CPC is a newly introduced equivalent to the well-established Transport Manager CPC, and has already attracted learners from leading organisations such as XPO, Iron Mountain, British Heart Foundation, New Look and Asda.
The Level 3 course, which is a 6-day programme blending online learning, classroom-based teaching and a site visit to the local The Range warehouse operation, is supported by the Freeport East Skills and Innovation Fund, with 50% funding available for businesses or individuals operating or living within the Freeport East geography.
Ipswich-based Ports, Logistics and Supply Chain specialist Murray Gibson has welcomed what he describes as an exciting opportunity for the region: “Warehousing offers many fantastic career opportunities – particularly in this area, where there are three major ports and some 40,000 people employed in the wider logistics industry,” he said. “This course offers a great opportunity to acquire formal training and a professional qualification with 50% of the costs paid, both for people looking for a career in a vibrant, fast-growing sector and for forward-looking businesses wishing to enhance the skills of their managers and be seen as good employers prepared to invest in their people.”
The first course at Suffolk New College will commence in January 2026. Learners will be taught by experienced tutors to build the skills to manage modern, efficient warehouse operations and gain industry-recognised certification in one of the UK’s most vital and fast-evolving sectors.
The hybrid course complements classroom teaching with independent study, making it ideal for warehouse managers seeking flexibility alongside structured learning.
Emma Taylor, Director of Business Development and Major Projects at Suffolk New College said: “Suffolk New College is delighted to be working with the UK Warehousing Association to bring this course to the East of England for the first time, with support from the Freeport East Skills Escalator project. It’s a great opportunity for warehouse managers to enhance their skills.”
Commenting on behalf of UKWA, Clare Bottle, Chief Executive of UKWA said: “This is an exciting first move in the roll out of our industry-leading qualification across the UK. We are delighted that Suffolk New College, an award-winning provider of further education, dedicated to ensuring their learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge most relevant to the industry, will be delivering the UKWA Warehouse Manager Course; support from the Freeport East Skills and Innovation Fund is bound to prove a highly attractive offer both for forward thinking local businesses and ambitious individuals aspiring to leadership roles within our sector!”
