Visitors to IMHX 2025 were the first to experience a new, paperwork-free approach to Thorough Examination, launched by the materials handling industry’s own accrediting body for equipment inspections.

The new CFTS Thorough Examination App makes it faster and easier to complete and manage the compulsory checks for forklifts, telehandlers, MEWPs and other lifting equipment.

Importantly, it is the first and only digital tool backed by an industry-approved code of practice guaranteed to fulfil both LOLER and PUWER requirements. Visitors to IMHX stand B34 had an exclusive chance to see live demonstrations and try the new app for themselves.

CFTS technical experts were also on hand throughout the event to answer questions about Thorough Examination compliance and the difference a time served accredited inspector can make.

Director Rob Fisher says: “This tool is the biggest step forward in Thorough Examination since the industry launched CFTS, 21 years ago. The app will reduce admin time, track certification, and help technicians deliver a fast, compliant inspection every time.

“It’s taken years of hard work to make sure every angle is covered. Now it’s ready, we’re excited to give IMHX visitors this exclusive first chance to get hands on.

“We want everyone who owns, uses, or services materials handling equipment to be crystal clear about what the regulations mean – and how a CFTS-accredited company can help.”
