As part of its annual charitable giving campaign, Kite Packaging, an employee share-owned business, recently made substantial donations to charities across the UK.
Each year, the company’s thirteen divisions select a charity to support. This year, Kite’s collective desire to give back resulted in a generous donation of £30,000, up from £26,000 in 2023. The campaign reflects Kite’s mission to make a positive impact on society through philanthropy, especially as the company has been supporting some of these charities for years and has built strong connections with them.
Kite Online (KOL), Kite Environmental Solutions (KES), Kite’s National Distribution Centre (NDC), and Midlands Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) all made Coventry-based donations along with the company’s Call Centre, Central Administration, Warehouse, and Specialist Divisions.
Having chosen The Lily Mae Foundation, KOL’s donation will help the charity provide crucial assistance to parents and families dealing with stillbirth, neonatal death, miscarriage or medical termination.
Similarly, Kite’s NDC donated to Zoe’s Place, who they have built a strong relationship with over the last few years, to provide specialised care for babies and young children with complex illnesses or disabilities.
The Warehouse donated to Parkinson’s UK, supporting research and care for individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s disease. Meanwhile, in Telesales, the focus was on Myton Hospice, to provide essential support and enhance the quality of life for individuals with terminal illnesses and their families.
Close to the hearts of many at Kite Packaging, The Air Ambulance Service is a charity which works alongside the NHS to deliver time-sensitive, critical care in the case of road traffic accidents, industrial accidents and medical emergencies. Sponsoring Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, and Derbyshire, donations from Kite’s Midlands RDC and Specialists Divisions will help the service deliver life-saving care in the face of medical emergencies where not much else can be done.
Following on from last year, Midlands also donated to Coventry Haven Women’s Aid, a grassroots charity set up by women to help women who are victims of domestic abuse and their children. Kite’s donation will maintain the provision of safe housing, support and services for those who are affected.
KES and Kite’s Central Service directed their donation to Dementia UK, who support families affected by dementia, with their Admiral Nurses offering free, life-changing care and advice. Kite’s South Coast RDC also supported this cause, splitting their donation between Dementia UK and Save The Children, also contributing to children’s welfare.
Aside from the South Coast, beyond Coventry, Kite also has RDCs in the North-East, Rotherham, Sittingbourne, Letchworth, Rochdale, Portsmouth, and Swindon as well as Shredhouse in Wiltshire. These bases supported a range of causes, with some employees also getting involved at a voluntary level to make a tangible and meaningful difference within their own communities.
Kite’s North-East donation went to Daft as a Brush, a charity which helps facilitate transport to and from medical appointments for cancer patients. Meanwhile, Letchworth RDC continued its work with The Garden House Hospice, also donating to Sick Children’s Trust, which offers comfort and accommodation to the families of seriously ill children.
Shredhouse backed Wiltshire Air Ambulance for a second year, while also supporting Help for Heroes, a charity providing emergency medical services and veterans’ welfare, for the first time.
Kite’s Rotherham RDC made contributions to both Rotherham Hospice and Geordie Bullies. Their support encompassed palliative care services as well as charitable efforts aimed at benefiting bull breeds.
In Swindon, Kite supported STEP, aiding children and young people facing isolation, and Swindon Sands, offering support to bereaved parents. Similarly, Sittingbourne donated to My Shining Star, supporting families affected by childhood cancer, and Swale Cats Protection, aiding cats in need.
At Kite Packaging’s North-West RDC, they extended support to Springhill Hospice and Well Mental UK. Their contributions included specialised palliative care services and efforts to raise awareness about mental health.
The charities expressed immense gratitude as many have faced challenges due to limited funding, staff shortages, and inflation. Kite’s contributions provide essential resources, enabling these organisations to continue their vital work.
Kite Packaging remains committed to empowering struggling localities and fostering stronger communities. As the company continues to grow, so does its dedication to making a meaningful impact on the world.
