What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

Well, it’s never dull. As a department we are always busy, so the days just fly by and there is always something different happening. I also love winning work. I have a sporting background which has made me extremely competitive, and I love to see a job well done with positive feedback.

Who has inspired you most in your career?

I would say that it is my Mum and Dad. They both instilled an excellent work ethic in me and my brother from an early age.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

I would be a Hörmann Sectional door – always reliable, quick, and efficient.

If you had your time again, what would you do different?

I am not one for looking back and reflecting much. I wasn’t planning or expecting to be working within the door industry, but I can genuinely stay that I am happy with how things have worked out. I am also a great believer that you get out of life what you put in.

What’s your favourite pastime?

My husband and I own two horses so spending time with them certainly helps me to relax. I also own a dog called Stitch who is great fun. He is always happy to see me and ready to go for a walk.

Do follow a sport or support a team?

Having had a sporting past and played cricket to County standard I can say that it remains my favourite sport albeit the shorter format of the game. I also enjoy watching MotoGP and enjoy attending weekend races when I can.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened in your career?

After we moved to our current office I once went into the wrong toilet as the toilets are the opposite way round. Luckily, they were empty at the time!

Do you have any hidden talents?

In my younger years I was a rather good leg spin bowler – less so now.

Who would be your favourite party guest?

Definitely Valentino Rossi.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

I would have to say my horses. They are fantastic animals, but they are not cheap to keep, and they leave me with little money for other luxuries. And, of course, my health is important.

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

Buy more horses – only joking! I would love to have the time to travel a bit more and I’ve also always wanted to own a nice house by the coast.

Who or what makes you laugh?

My husband Steve, even after all these years. We have always had a laugh and no matter what the situation he always manages to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

What’s your dream holiday?

That would be Japan, hopefully fingers crossed we might get there one day. There is also a Moto GP Round in Japan!

What’s your favourite music album?

I have a very varied music taste, including Garage. But when I need to be cheered up Flight of the Conchords never disappoints.

What’s your favourite movie?

I really like films by Wes Anderson – especially Fantastic Mr Fox.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

To enjoy the journey and to be determined to make a difference. Plus, along the way you will get to meet a great bunch of people.
