One of the UK’s biggest business groups, Logistics UK, has named DFDS Cold Chain England the Road Transport Operator of the Year at its annual Logistics Awards, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on Thursday 8 December. The award – sponsored by Logistics UK Fuelcard – was presented to DFDS at the gala dinner.
DFDS has overcome the significant challenges of the past 18 months with Brexit, COVID-19, driver shortages and pressure to introduce more carbon efficient solutions. The business – which runs 180 trucks, 363 trailers and has 449 employees across 12 sites – has performed exceptionally well, its sales have grown 10% and it has achieved an increase in turnover of 13%. Profits have more than doubled to £6.2 million, demonstrating its position as one of the market leaders in road transport operations.
David Wells, Chief Executive at Logistics UK commented: “DFDS Cold Chain England has overcome a series of unprecedented challenges and surpassed even the most ambitious targets over the past year, while still delivering outstanding customer service. The judges were particularly impressed by the creation of new, innovative solutions to help customers through difficult times, as well as its great financial performance. I would like to congratulate DFDS for its win; the company represents the ‘best of the best’ in the road transport sector.”
