Packaging Innovations and Empack will reunite the entire packaging community when it returns to Birmingham’s NEC on 25th and 26th May 2022. As the biggest event of its kind, the show will host suppliers from right across the packaging supply chain, including specialists in initial product design and development, packing, filling and fulfilment.

Leading industry suppliers from across the food and drink, chemical, personal care, label and print and contract packing sectors, will be introducing their latest products, technologies and services live on the show floor.

With an increasing industry focus on sustainability, Yorkshire Packaging Systems will display its range of 100% recyclable polyolefin flexible shrink film, containing a minimum of 30% recycled content. The RCB films meet the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) criteria, by ensuring a precise volume of recycled content is present in every batch of film for traceability and transparency. The films are also plastic tax exempt, as the production process uses circular polymers.

Martek Industries will present both its Bentsai B80 and B85 inkjet printers. Both combine high-definition printing and 100mm-wide format design to allow portable printing of text, barcodes, 2D codes and detailed graphics onto porous and non-porous surfaces. A touchscreen interface allows for custom artwork to be uploaded and stored, with the technology used to brand items such as cardboard boxes, wooden shipping crates and plastic bags.

Robinson will add to the growing focus on sustainability, displaying key items from its range of custom packaging, designed to reduce the amount of virgin plastic used, and increase recycled content within products. On show will be its clam packs, rigid trays and sleeves, all of which are made from 100% post-consumer recycled material and are widely recyclable.

In addition to a packed show floor, Packaging Innovations and Empack 2022 will host an in-depth seminar programme, held across three stages. The Empack Technology stage will feature topics aimed at the manufacturing, logistics and processing sectors. Talks will cover robotics, e-fulfilment and energy efficiency. The Innovation and Design stage and Ecopack stage will cover the latest developments for packaging designers and technologists, with brand owners and entrepreneurs explaining their strategies for 2022. Leading designers will also take to the stage to highlight new trends in graphic design and consumer behaviour.

Renan Joel, Divisional Director at Easyfairs, concludes: “It will be great to see everyone back at the NEC in May. A year and a half without the show has given us a lot to discuss! You can’t beat face to face conversations with people, and visitors will discover the very best the industry has to offer right here in Birmingham. We can’t wait for the show to begin!”
