Culina Logistics stepped in to help several valued customers and save in excess of two hundred jobs, by taking over operations at a 230,000 sq. ft. facility at London’s Port of Tilbury following the Administration of the previous logistics provider.

The takeover of the Tilbury site was a joint customer project taking six months involving Culina Logistics and several ‘blue chip’ chilled manufacturing businesses that had been operating at the site together with the previous ownership. Working relentlessly with the customers and Forth Ports, service was protected during the Administration process, followed by a final and seamless transition onto the industry renowned Culina Logistics systems. The feedback from the all of the suppliers involved and their wider stakeholder teams is that the approach to the project and final execution was beyond their expectations. Not a single case was shorted.

Culina Logistics has helped these businesses out of a really serious situation with potentially devastating consequences. Two hundred colleagues were also saved from possible redundancy and welcomed into the Culina Logistics business. These new colleagues were absolutely fantastic during the Administration process, undertaking their responsibilities tirelessly, despite the natural uncertainty associated with such circumstances. Culina Logistics are delighted to be able to repay these efforts with increased job security and extensive career development opportunities.

“With the customers facing a very difficult situation at Tilbury with their previous logistics provider, taking over the site was the right thing for us to do,” said Thomas van Mourik, Culina Group CEO, “The project was certainly challenging however everything went to plan with no impact to the customer operations. I am pleased that our customers and new colleagues at the site are very happy with the outcome and the addition of this site to the Culina Logistics network further strengthens our position as the genuine market leader in chilled shared user logistics,”

The Culina Logistics facility at Tilbury has great access to major roadways and links the Port of Tilbury with the nationwide Culina Logistics chilled food logistics network, whilst being on the doorstep to the largest population density in the country.
