diamond logistics – the national courier, express parcels and fulfilment network – has announced Paul Carvell’s appointment as Chairman joining the board with Kate Lester (Founder and CEO), Daniel Allin (Chief Commercial Director), Natalie Blake (Chief Financial Officer) and Natalie Wearing (Director of Network Operations).

Born in Birkenhead, and educated at Oxford University, Paul has over forty years’ experience in the transport, logistics and business service sectors. Paul is Chairman of The Delivery Group and Non Executive Chairman of PPS Equipment, a BGF Investment.

Previous positions include CEO at Business Post plc (now UK Mail / DHL), which he took into the FTSE 250, and MD and senior VP roles with TNT, GE Capital and Christian Salvesen. He is a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.

Commenting on the appointment, Lester says: “As we scale our business, Paul’s invaluable experience and insight is keeping us focused on the objectives of adding another 60+ sites in the next 5 years; and building the businesses of both our clients and franchise on our one-stop logistics platform, despatchlab. His knowledge of the industry, combined with his integrity and reputation, aligns very strongly with our purpose and values.

Paul’s recent successes include taking TDG from £32 million revenue in 2011 to £250 million in 2017, chairing a major depot consolidation, overseeing an operational automation programme and significant software developments to further improve the customer experience, and being part of the recent management buyout team.
