FORS, TFL and electric all featured at the top brass bike show briefing by MCIA with Highways England launch for next generation framework on two wheelers.

IOC chairman Carl Lomas topped up with juice on the all electric Zero motorbike. Plug in grant of fifteen hundred pounds brings the LoCity ultra clean two wheelr in at under ten k with perfomance of a thousand cc petrol bike, solid and ready for luggage to make deliveries with zero emission.

MCIA used the show to host their AGM and report on all things two wheels. IOC were there to see MCIA boss Steve Kenward launch the very latest ‘Motorcycle Safety and Transport Policy Framework’ third edition, 160 pages in alliance with Highways England and the National Police Chiefs Council. Steve commented, ‘Don’t go to bed before you have read it! 25 years in the making, a long term solution and two key themes, education and awareness.’

The AGM was a full house attendance from manufacturers of bikes, electric and petrol to driver trainers, kit and accessory producers.

Karren Cole, ‘MCIA are working with FORS on a two day CBT top up for rider training with individuals who are working on bikes. Funded by TFL to help working riders make the very best first steps on two wheels, understand Londoncentric issues such as red routes and traffic filtering.

Stewart Lovatt, Highways England, ‘The new Framework is an alliance for safety with the MCIA, we are working towards zero harm, while travelling on the UK road network. Third edition is a comprehensive strategy for safer infrastructure for motorcyclists. Stewart went on to talk Highways England structure with the private company with a single shareholder. That shareholder is the Sec of State for Transport.

Tim Madgwich talked Bike Safe as a solution to the new framework launched with rider training at its heart. Craig Clarey Clinch, ‘Framework strategy takes us beyond safety, a gain for society to use two wheels.
