Over the last few years, industrial door and loading bay manufacturer Hörmann has made a significant commitment to enhancing its environmental record, a move that has not only reduced its carbon footprint but has also ensured its products remain of the highest quality.

The manufacturer’s efforts to improve its green status were acknowledged last year at the UKWA annual award ceremony, where it was presented with the Environment Award. As a way of demonstrating its commitment to this cause, Hörmann has decided to sponsor the same category at this year’s event.
David Newcombe, Managing Director of Hörmann (UK) Ltd, commented: “Finding new and improved ways to reduce our carbon footprint is really important at Hörmann. After winning the award last year, sponsoring the category seemed like a natural progression and a fitting way to demonstrate our dedication in this area. We’re looking forward to hearing about the different approaches other companies are taking to improve efficiency and reduce their impact on the environment.”
CO2 emissions across Hörmann’s 16 factories have been reduced by an impressive 17,600 tons each year through a variety of measures, including the use of renewably generated energy, the installation of combined heat and power plants and switching from oil to gas heating at some locations.
Most recently, over 800 solar PV panels have been installed at the UK headquarters in Coalville, Leicestershire in a bid to further reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The 220,000 watt solar array is estimated to generate around 179,000 kWh every year, helping to significantly lower damaging emissions. The electricity produced will go towards powering the equipment used within the warehouse, as well as providing lighting in the office space.
