Leading recruiter – Gi Group UK – has established a new Employability, Skills and Learning division (ESL) to help bridge the skills gap and remove the barriers keeping people from employment.

Unknown-3

ESL will bring Gi Group’s ongoing apprenticeship, work experience and in-house training activities in to one specifically focused business unit. It will drive the increased employability and training of both its own employees and the candidates it looks to place with clients.

The introduction of ESL represents a natural evolution for Gi Group UK and builds on its highly successful Apprentice Training Programme which has seen over 2100 apprenticeships completed since 2009. Now one of only 90 Large Employers to be contracted by the Skills Funding Agency for apprenticeship delivery, it supports approximately 500 apprentices a year across a range of industries.

Going forward, the new ESL team will work with awarding bodies, Ofsted and the SFA in order to ensure that its apprentice training programmes – run both in house and for clients – are of the highest quality and benefit both the individual and the employer.

The division is headed by Kate Maddison-Greenwell – previously Site Managed Services (SMS) Programme Manager & Regional Account Manager at Gi Group UK. Kate has been heavily involved in Gi Group’s apprenticeship training since it was awarded a direct funding contract in July 2013. She also oversaw the company’s successful Ofsted inspection in January of last year.

Jess Watts, Chief Executive Officer, Gi Group UK said: “Investing in apprenticeships and improving the skills of workers is absolutely fundamental to the future of the UK economy. Over the last 6 years we have built up vast experience in this area so the launch of ESL is a natural progression. Through this division employers and individuals can access a dedicated team of experts, headed by Kate – who has been integral to our success in this field to date.

“Gi Group UK is now even better placed to advise on all aspects of apprenticeships from implementing new frameworks to building portfolios that complement a client’s existing business model and training courses. We can help steer organisations through compliance with the incoming Apprenticeship Levy and provide trainers and assessors where necessary.”
