The UK’s leading material handling company, Linde, recently hosted the final of the national Co-op forklift truck competition in its Basingstoke head office.

Linde---Competition-37

The competition which is organised by Linde is designed to recognise and reward competency, safety and efficiency when using Material handling equipment (MHE) in the workplace.

Neal Morrison, national account manager at Linde said, “The competition is a great way of not only recognising young talent within the industry but also sharing best practise and encouraging the development of key materials handling skills across the sector.”

The 26 co-op employees from across the UK competed in three practical rounds all designed to test their skills in material handling operating both counterbalance and reach trucks.

All the finalists had previously competed in a regional heat in order to qualify for the national final.

Winners on the day were Marek Bandura from Newhouse North Lancashire in the Reach truck category and Chris Green from Coventry in the Counterbalance and the Remote Controlled forklift truck category.

All winners have now been invited to attend the Linde UK Material handling equipment UK final taking place on 16th August and could then go on to represent the UK in the prestigious Linde Stapler cup.

In the reach truck category, Dean Airpino from Avonmouth was awarded second place and Rob Hurry from Huntington took home third place along with a cash prize.

In the Counterbalance category Chris Hughes from Lea Green secured second place and Hugh Murray from Newhouse North Lancashire was awarded third place.
