Union Industries, the undisputed UK market leader of industrial rapid roll doors, has installed one of its huge Ramdoors and three large Bulldoors at a warehousing and manufacturing facility belonging to TRW, one of the global leaders in automotive safety.
Leeds-based Union Industries designs all its high speed doors individually to suit its clients’ needs. All the doors are bespoke and made to order, so Union can adapt its doors to suit the various demands of different industrial sectors as well as individual applications or customer requests.
The Ramdoor, which can go up to 9.0m wide and has been made as tall at 8.0m high, is a rugged external heavy duty, rapid roller door with a simple yet proven ‘Crash-Out’ facility; sacrificial Break-Out tabs shear on impact allowing the door to swing from harm’s way to minimise damage to the bottom beam.
These tabs are then quickly and easily replaced, then the door reset in the guides to become operational again. The action is very quick and easy, which keeps downtime to an absolute minimum.
Two of the newly installed Bulldoor High Speed Doors for TRW at its Peterlee facility are interlinked in a tunnel and programed so that if one is open the other is closed, effectively making an airlock to reduce temperature and humidity changes at the facility.
In common with the other doors in the range, the Bulldoor also features Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out’ damage protection facility, but differing from the Ramdoor, this facility is also capable of ‘Auto-Reset’ so the Bulldoor will remain operable even after impact to the bottom beam.
The four new Union Industries doors make a total of eight now fitted at TRW Peterlee, which supplies cognitive safety integration, electronics, steering, braking and occupant safety systems worldwide to over 40 vehicle manufacturers.
