When Hörmann, the leading manufacturer of garage and industrial doors, decided to add to its  management team it turned to Encore Personnel to meet its specific needs. Looking to maintain the company’s success and continue to drive both sales and service forward, Hörmann required candidates of the highest calibre.

encore-logo-high-resWith a track record of supplying both industrial, technical and support staff to the assembly plant in Coalville, Leicestershire, Encore had built up a very positive relationship with the company. With such senior appointments in mind it was essential that the right candidates were identified in the first instance, to bring efficiency to the recruitment process.

Hörmann turned to Encore partly because of its track record in consistently putting forward the best candidates for all levels of vacancy but more importantly, as MD David Newcombe says, “Because they listen to us and make a real effort to understand what we need.”

With time a major commodity the ability of Encore to understand a business from top to bottom and the equal importance it applies to understanding the candidates it puts forward means that the best person, not the best looking CV, is presented to the client.

For Hörmann the internal promotion of its operations manager to another Hörmann Group company, was seen as an opportunity to bring in an individual who could analyse the manufacturer’s current processes and improve and develop these further, as the business continues to grow. Encore were tasked with finding the right individual who could drive this forward but importantly would fit in as a key team member.

After taking the time to fully understand the exact need Encore then commenced the search utilising their in-house database, as well as networking with relevant candidates, that are not found through the traditional job sites. However the key here was to recruit a capable individual, preferably from outside the industry, who had the necessary skills.

Ray Metcalfe, Operations Director of Encore’s Senior Appointments Division, is responsible for the Hörmann account. He explains how Encore approached this and why Hörmann came back to them for another key role. “Even though we are very familiar with Hörmann, it was important for us to approach this as a fresh search, in order to make sure we had an exact brief. This way we can speak authoritatively to potential candidates and make sure that the recruitment process is smooth and efficient for both parties.
