Logistex has capitalised on decades of experience in supporting all kinds of handling systems and equipment with a new Engineering Facilities Management service. On-site teams headed by a dedicated Logistex Engineering Manager will take full plant-wide responsibility for maintenance, repair and breakdown services of everything from conveyors, cranes, sortation systems, lift trucks and racking to roller doors, ventilation systems and washrooms.
The service will enable warehouse and distribution managers to concentrate on their core storage and logistics functions, safe in the knowledge that the task of keeping plant and equipment running smoothly is being looked after by an experienced and knowledgeable professional team.
On-site support teams consist of existing Logistex engineers – with the option to take on existing client staff under TUPE practices – to provide a full range of skills and experience to match each facility’s individual requirements. With 24/7 support, the service caters for varying shift patterns and holiday cover to ensure maximum uptime around the clock.
Logistex will take full responsibility for system uptime and maintenance, operating to achieve or exceed agreed KPIs and other performance standards, and providing a cost-effective, hassle-free solution.
Steve Smith, General Manager of office products wholesaler VOW’s Normanton DC, who signed up for the new service in 2012, summed up what it has meant for him and his business. “We immediately saw an improvement in uptime, largely due to a more disciplined approach to preventative maintenance by the new team. They welcomed a greater level of accountability for the performance of equipment as diverse as conveyors, roller doors and smaller electrical works, and being measured against agreed KPIs.
Despite our initial fears, two in-house maintenance staff we transferred to the Logistex team welcomed the move into a strong service culture and the career opportunities it has opened up for them.
Above all, it has given the VOW team the peace of mind and confidence that they no longer have to worry about the almost daily issues that plant maintenance involves and now have a system that hardly ever lets us down.”
