knights-of-oldFollowing a number of new business wins, Knights of Old, the Northamptonshire-based logistics and distribution specialist, has expanded its trailer fleet with the acquisition of 27 new vehicles from the Schmitz Cargobull range.

Over half of the new fleet – which is a mix of Schmitz Cargobull’s new S.CS Freepost curtainsiders and Euroliner models – will be liveried in Knights of Old’s new corporate logo and colours, while six vehicles will feature the vivid branding of Honey Monster Foods Ltd. Honey Monster Foods – part of Big Bear Foods Group – recently signed a contract with Knights of Old for the distribution of its popular range of breakfast cereals and other Honey Monster branded snacks and the trailers will be used to deliver products to grocery retailers UK-wide.

In addition, a further S.CS Freepost trailer (which has been fitted with a Moffett truck-mounted forklift) will go into service with Knights of Old’s long established client BaconInflate, while two of the five Euroliner trailers have been supplied in the livery of Partnerlink – a national distribution consortium that Knights of Old is a major shareholder in.

Schmitz Cargobull’s Freepost trailers were officially launched in Spring of this year. The postless design means the entire length of the trailer is unobstructed and can be used for loading and unloading – bringing huge advances in flexibility, efficiency and operational safety.

Ian Beattie, managing director of Knights of Old, commented: “We are in the process of streamlining our supplier base and we selected Schmitz Cargobull as its product offering and Europe-wide after-sales back up package represented the best option for us. We are a growing company and believe that Schmitz Cargobull offers the partnership that will help to support our future growth.”

Ryan Mazgaj, Schmitz Cargobull’s key accounts manager, commented: “Whenever Schmitz Cargobull design a new product or develop an existing range, we have the needs of the end user at heart. The new Freepost trailer was designed, developed and built in the UK for the UK and Irish market and we believe that it offers faster, safer and more flexible loading and unloading for the ultimate in efficiency. Judging by the reaction from the market since its launch, our customers seem to agree.”
