For anyone attending Logistics Link South 09, a visit to bpi.films’ stand (Stand 134) is an absolute must. At this year’s event, which runs on the 3rd and 4th of February 2009 at Sandown Park in Surrey, the leading manufacturer of pallet stretch, shrink and converter films plans to demonstrate a number of products and initiatives that can save users time and money, whilst benefiting the environment.
First up, staff from the business will be on hand to tell visitors about Wrapsmartultra. This pallet stretch wrap offers all the performance of a 14 micron (m?) film but from a product that’s only half that thickness – at just 7 m?. The net result is that half the film by volume is required to wrap a given load and so far less packaging waste is created. What’s more, this reduced waste can even be recycled rather than sent to landfill as Wrapsmartultra, like many bpi.films’ products, is 100% recyclable.
Wrapsmartultra’s green credentials are further enhanced by the fact that its thinner profile also means users get more film (and the ability to wrap more pallets) with every reel. Aside from providing greater value for money, this cuts down on the number of deliveries required and associated vehicle emissions. Plus, as an additional benefit, users can expect to spend less time ordering the film in the first place and then dealing with it at goods inward.
Also sharing the limelight with Wrapsmartultra will be Zeroll. This hand roll stretch film contains no cardboard core at its centre and instead is applied using special reusable applicators. This may sound like a small difference but it delivers some big benefits. In fact, a business using a pallet of hand films per week can expect to remove up to 2 tonnes of cardboard a year from its waste stream, along with the relevant disposal costs, simply by switching to this product.
Finally, bpi.films will also showcase its unique Wrap Audits. Recognising that many people may not be reaping the full advantages of advances in film technology and application techniques, these free ‘clinics’ entail the manufacturer assessing a customer’s product choice and pallet wrapping methods in order to provide best practice advice. This advice invariably cuts the user’s costs, material usage and waste stream contribution.
Commenting on the forthcoming event, Kate Davies, Press Officer at bpi.films, said: “The Logistics Link events have repeatedly shown themselves as an ideal means for us to reach out and connect with logistics professionals, who are some of our most valued customers. This year’s Logistics Link South will be no exception.
“We look forward to telling visitors about a number of products and initiatives which are designed to benefit both them and the environment, and to hearing their feedback on any additional ways we can meet their needs.”
