bema.jpgOffering new concept in robotic pallet stretch wrapping technology. The Walsall Engineering Group is pleased to announce they have reached an agreement with BEMA of Italy to act as their sales and engineering partner in the UK and Irish markets, offering a new concept in robotic pallet wrapping machines that is designed to increase the efficiency of production and logistic operations.

The Walsall Engineering Group will now offer a range of BEMA stretch wrapping machines that have been installed and successfully operated across diverse industrial sectors including food, beverage, tetra-brik, dairy, confectionery, tissue and cement. The range commences with the Silkworm LS – a fixed column machine operating at up to 50 pallets/hr, through to the Silkworm BiTurbo incorporating the Fanuc robot to achieve wrapping speeds up to 160 pallets/hr.

HIGH EFFICIENCY WITH FILM SAVINGS
Designed by BEMA, the unique and sophisticated wrapping head can achieve very high pre-stretch ratios in the range of 300% to 450% that results in high film savings. Due to less wraps being required because of the 1000 mm film width, this also leads to additional film savings as there are less film overlaps. An additional advantage of the high pre-stretch is the ability to take nearly all of the elasticity out of the film itself. Therefore the machine is ideal for wrapping soft products which can be damaged easily by the pallet wrapping process such as tissue based products.

The BEMA system had many other advantages and unique features to enhance pallet stability, security, integrity and has also developed an anti-condensation system that creates ventilation holes in the film after the pallet has been wrapped.

The wrapping system also allows for two half pallets to be wrapped individually, then wrapped together to create a new full pallet load enabling it to be transported by a fork lift truck. BEMA’s experience in this area has led it into wrapping display pallets which are becoming more favoured by the supermarkets.

The Walsall Engineering Group can support BEMA in all of their sales and engineering activities in house from technical sales through project management to full mechanical & electrical installation. A spokesman from the Walsall Engineering Group reported ” We are very excited to be working with BEMA as they are an innovative company and have certainly taken pallet stretch wrapping to the next level. It’s not often that something new comes along in packaging which makes you sit up, and the opportunity to work with BEMA is another step in the continuing development of our own company”.
