ragus-pr.jpgOne piece construction provides strength and avoids contamination traps. Ragus, the only independent specialist sugar refiner in the UK, recently took delivery of 200 Craemer CR3-5 heavy duty plastic pallets. As part of an ongoing review of operations, Ragus looked at replacing and upgrading their existing stock of plastic pallets which were used to carry 1000 kilo bulk bags of raw cane sugar. Working closely with a national network of distribution partners, Ragus supplies independent bakers with competitively priced products to bakers and over a period of time, these pallets had deteriorated to a point that raised questions of possible product contamination and safety issues. As a result of a recommendation from a customer of Ragus, Peter Eastick of Ragus contacted Craemer UK and invited them to present their proposals and tender for the supply of 200 new plastic pallets.

Ragus’s experience with the original plastic pallets had not always been positive, as these were suspect to peripheral and structural damage often resulting from the fork lift openings being quite small. Also, as the pallets were constructed of individual elements, runners and deck, these joints quickly became weakened with some resultant damage occurring and this allowed ingress of product into the pallets creating possible inaccessible contamination areas.

Craemer Sales Manager – Steve Penney, confidently proposed the use of the distinctly coloured red-brown, heavy duty CR3-5 all plastics perimeter pallet, with anti-slip topdeck for increased load safety. Due to the strength of its one piece injection moulded structure and featuring five runners, the CR3-5 plastic pallet (1200 x 1000mm) provides for the highest stability and a load bearing capability of 1000kgs in a racking system. This also eliminates any possible contamination issues as associated with plastic pallets assembled and welded from individual parts.

The CR3-5 stands the test of most applications of modern logistics even in racking systems. As a 1200 x 1000mm perimetric pallet, the CR3-5 is suitable for cross industry applications in both processing and retail distribution.

Peter Eastick Managing Director of Ragus said, ” We took time in selecting the right pallet for our purpose and Craemer was very responsive. They demonstrated a clear understanding of our requirements and supported their technical proposal by forwarding a sample pallet, which went into the system for a trial period. This was found to meet our criteria and they still remain as good as new.

The Craemer CR3-5 plastic pallets were considerably more durable, less prone to damage and therefore cost effective as they provide for a longer period of life. Craemer UK were very professional in their presentation and we could not have asked for better service. ”
