Northern Ireland-based skip hire specialist CM Skips has added a JCB 550-80 Wastemaster Loadall to the fleet of materials handling machinery operating at its site in Randalstown, near Ballymena.

The telehandler will play a key role in ensuring CM Skips’ on-site efficiency and throughput targets are met. It will be used to transfer incoming commercial and household waste from tipped skips to a dedicated sortation area where material is sorted in to different recyclable waste streams and non-recyclable waste. The 550-80 then collects sorted material and delivers it to one of a number of dedicated storage bays at the site where waste is kept prior to being loaded – again using the 550-80 – onto one of CM Skips’ contractor partner’s delivery vehicles before being taken away for recycling.

On average, CM Skips recycles 90 per cent of all the waste that arrives at its Randalstown site and the company’s contractors recycle at least 80 per cent of all material that leaves the site.

The JCB 550-80 is powered by JCB’s new EcoMAX engine to deliver optimum power and productivity, while the machine’s Wastemaster specification means that it is fitted with extra guarding and protection as well as uprated hydraulics – a factor that had a significant influence on CM Skips’ purchase decision.
