Hyster® brand celebrates 90th anniversary

To mark 90 years of the Hyster® brand, the stand at IMHX showed a J2.5XN electric lift truck featuring a lithium ion battery and ‘retro’ décor which encouraged conversation about developments in lift truck power.

A key topic included reduced emissions. On several of its FT and XT ICE forklifts Hyster® introduced Stage V engines at the beginning of the year, bringing low emission productivity and reliability to ICE operations. Many of the LPG Fortens™ models up to 3.5T lift capacity now feature PSI engines with catalytic converter while several diesel models have a Kabota 2.4l engine with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

New Paper Reel Handling Solution

On the stand, Hyster Europe also showed a specially optimised J5.5XN6 electric lift truck which enables paper reels to be loaded down the centre line of a lorry trailer for transport, helping to evenly distribute weight, improve stability and reduce paper reel damage.

Where previously a 7-tonne truck would be needed, the tilting carriage option and reel clamp attachment makes it possible to accurately place reels into a trailer with the 5.5-tonne capacity lift truck. The hydraulic tilting carriage increases reach by 250mm at lorry bed height, ideal for efficiently loading paper reels onto a trailer in the correct position. The tilting functionality also helps reels to be placed down flat, reducing potentially costly damage to their edges.

Construction Supply Chain Driver Awareness

At the Hyster Europe stand, visitors also saw how driver awareness add-ons can be combined with tough Hyster® Fortens™ lift trucks, helping to reduce downtime and maximise productivity. Warehouse space is often tight in the construction materials supply chain so object detection systems, cameras and lights, are available to support drivers when manoeuvring in these areas. These solutions complement the design of Hyster® Fortens™ lift trucks, which feature an operator cab that provides good visibility, optimal comfort and intuitive controls, which all help contribute to better awareness and accurate operation.

The H3.5FT lift truck on display at the show is a popular model in construction materials manufacturing and DIY retail distribution centre operations. It is often used for handling building materials, such as bricks, tiles, cement bags, aggregate or insulation materials.

360-degree service and support

The global network of local Hyster® distribution partners uses 360-degree product knowledge and specific industry expertise to help applications find solutions to their daily operational challenges. At IMHX, visitors had chance to meet exclusive UK distributor Briggs Equipment and learn more about the full service and support available for Hyster® lift trucks. This includes guidance on fleet management solutions, after-sales service, spare parts supply and specially engineered solutions.
