Workplace incidents; thankfully the HSE report that there has been a large reduction in both fatal and non-fatal workplace injuries in recent decades, however being struck by a moving vehicle or by a moving object are within the top three types of fatal accidents. Wholesale and manufacturing industries accounted for nearly a third of those reported in 2018/19.

With demands to improve productivity, drive efficiencies, and an unwavering focus on profitability, we are working in a commercial world where more is increasingly expected for less. This is not a new concept to EFAFLEX who have been designing high-speed industrial doors for nearly half a century. Incorporating design engineered qualities such as speed, safety and performance are paramount in all 90+ versions of their doors. One of their most important industry sectors is warehouse and logistics where flow of products, people and machinery need to manoeuvre in unison. Incidents can happen, but minimizing the risk is EFAFLEX’s key objective.

Darren Turrell, Managing Director EFAFLEX UK helps to explain, ‘Our doors are the fastest in the world. Our turbo spiral design can open at speeds of 4 metres per second. It’s impressive to watch but equally this speed of motion has many benefits. For one, the fast opening speed can help streamline efficiencies. Within loading bays and warehouses where forklift trucks operate, the opening and closing speeds can make the difference to the quantity of produce being shipped around the facility. Our doors can help speed up the operation. Couple this with including one of our activation methods such as remote-controlled access operated by the forklift driver, and businesses quickly can see the improvement and increase in stock being loaded and dispatched – safely!’

Designed over 25 years ago, others have tried to emulate the efficiencies of the EFAFLEX spiral but failed. The unique engineering is synonymous throughout EFAFLEX who are the only company worldwide to specialise in the design and manufacture of high-speed doors.

Turrell continued, ‘Our customers fall into two main categories. Those that have experienced the speed and safety of an EFAFLEX door and return when they are expanding or relocating. They are converts. The others are the traditional roller shutter users who are now aware that a better alternative exists. Yes, the initial cost of an EFAFLEX high-speed door may be more expensive, but when people factor the whole life cost in terms of performance, energy saving, reduced downtime, the maths is simple and decisions easily made.’

Energy savings are a key benefit to EFAFLEX customers. With its combination of unrivalled door opening and closing speeds, coupled with the insulation properties exposure to the elements is minimized. Temperature controlling an area, whether that’s heating or cooling, is more cost effective with customers experiencing an energy saving cost of up to 50%.

In summary it’s not by chance that EFAFLEX have become the global leaders in high-speed doors; it’s taken half a century of dedication. Constantly pushing the boundaries of design innovation, their doors are an asset to any warehouse or logistics operation. Safety, speed and performance… the perfect combination.
