Campisa, a leading supplier of industrial doors and loading bay equipment, made a successful entrance to the UK market at IMHX, the major intralogistics exhibition held recently. As well as making a strong impression with its high-quality products, it also won a prestigious Design4Safety Award for its innovative FIDELITY hydraulic drive system.

The Italian company’s presence represented its first major venture in the UK, and it used the opportunity to showcase a broad cross-section of its range of sectional overhead doors, dock levellers, dock shelters, dock houses, spiral fast-action doors and fast-action curtain roll doors.

Campisa has recruited the vastly experienced Alan Jenkins and Cliff Weller to run its UK business and to achieve its ambition to become the fifth major supplier of loading bay equipment in the UK, and he was joined at the IMHX by his colleagues in Campisa’s ISO 9001:2008 quality standard certified production facility in Milan.

“Buyers in the UK want to hear about innovation in this sector but, to be frank, there hasn’t really been that much until now. IMHX was the ideal show for us to launch Campisa into the UK, with a strong safety message and a range of eye-catching innovations that certainly caught the attention of buyers looking to drive safety through their logistics operations.

“We attracted a lot of visitors onto our stand who were keen to find out more, and we took away some extremely interesting leads, including from some of the sector’s biggest names.”

To cap an excellent IMHX for Campisa, it won the Warehouse Infrastructure category of the Design4Safety (D4S) Award, voted by an independent panel of industry experts under the auspices of BITA, the co-owner of IMHX. The D4S Awards highlight the importance of product or service design in improving safety standards. Focusing specifically on design, the awards recognise and celebrate innovative thinking – regardless of the type or cost of the product or service.

Campisa won the Warehouse Infrastructure award for its unique FIDELITY hydraulic drive system, which replaces potentially dangerous components such as springs, spring shafts and cable drums with a console system that can be used to operate both a sectional overhead door and dock leveller. As well as being suitable for new doors, the system can also be retro-fitted to existing industrial doors.

BITA’s secretary-general James Clark said: “Improving safety within the material handling industry has been – and remains – a top priority for BITA,” and congratulated Campisa and its fellow D4S winners for “helping to set the new benchmark for the industry”.

Jenkins added: “Our patented FIDELITY hydraulic drive system for sectional overhead doors offers a much safer method of installation and servicing of sectional doors. We’re thrilled to have picked up a Design4Safety award, as it shows independent endorsement of the messages we have been putting out.”
