Founded in 1991, OrderWise has been supplying business management software to businesses of all sizes, industries and sectors for almost 30 years. Alongside their class-leading ERP & Mobile WMS solutions, OrderWise have recently launched their Warehouse Robotics division which aims to help businesses maximise pick rates and reduce costs.

What are your best-known products/solutions/services?

At OrderWise, we provide business management software to help companies increase the accuracy, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all their day-to-day operations. Our offering can be a standalone WMS system, complete ERP software, automated Warehouse Robotics, or a combination of all three. Our expertise lies in identifying the issues the customer is facing and delivering a solution that solves these problems within their budget.

Which industry sectors are your customers in and which ones are growing fastest?

Due to how our solutions are packaged, across our 15,000+ users we support a broad range of industries and sectors. Our software is built and continuously developed to support wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, 3PLs and merchants.

The biggest growth we have seen in recent years, somewhat unsurprisingly, is within online trade. Whether selling B2B or B2C, we see more and more businesses becoming online-first in their approach and we are constantly developing our software to help our users to streamline all aspects of their online trading.

What are your most recent product etc innovations?

We release a new version of our software every single month, which equates to around 600 new features added each year. However, the biggest new addition to the OrderWise offering in the last 12 months has been our Warehouse Robotics. Designed, manufactured and tested here in the UK, our robotics offer state-of-the-art warehouse automation at an affordable price, with an incredibly fast ROI.

What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?

With Amazon using Robotics to drive their rapid rates of fulfilment and curb growing labour shortages, more and more businesses are, and soon will be, following suit so that they can continue to compete. Better warehouse automation through robotics is a key element to help businesses achieve this, however this is part of a wider vision that looks to deliver single touch fulfilment by using one integrated solution. That is what we are looking to deliver to our users through OrderWise and our Warehouse Robotics.

Can you tell us about any recent customer contracts and how you helped the customer meet their challenges?

Having been able to grow their business through OrderWise, we have a client who are shortly set to become the first company to use our Warehouse Robotics. Once implemented, our Warehouse Robotics will help them to boost their fulfilment capabilities, enabling them to pick more orders at a much lower cost. Such are the cost-savings, our research shows they are expected to see a return on their initial investment within 2 years, with staff costs reduced by 70%.

How does business in 2019 compare to previous years? What’s your strategy for succeeding in the current climate?

In 2019, you can come to OrderWise for a standalone WMS solution with mobile barcode scanners, fully integrated ERP software including eCommerce and EPOS, or our new Warehouse Robotics. This diversification and commitment to making our product better has brought us great success in recent years, helping us to better tailor each solution to the company’s individual requirements both in 2019 and beyond.

What’s the latest news from your company?

We’re pleased to say that OrderWise has received regional and national award recognition in recent months. We recently won Innovation in Manufacturing at the Lincolnshire Technology & Innovation awards for our Warehouse Robotics, while also making the top three in the country at the Digital Leaders 100 in the AI Innovation category.

Can you tell us about any areas where you’re currently making technical advances eg safety, sustainability, environment?

One of the biggest benefits of our Warehouse Robotics is the fewer health and safety considerations. With fewer pickers walking around the warehouse and our robots operating in their own designated zone, risks are kept to a minimum. The other major benefit of robots is that they are built to work in complete darkness and low temperatures, so no extra costs incurred on heating or lighting – only greater cost savings instead.

Are you investing in staff training and skills development?

At our head offices in Lincolnshire, we have 200+ staff who manage every aspect of OrderWise. Before assuming their role, each member of the OrderWise team undergoes a structured three-month training program, helping us ensure they have the knowledge needed to excel in their role here. Then as our products and services develop, we have monthly release training and online Moodle courses to ensure staff knowledge is constantly refreshed and kept at the required levels.

Are you taking part in any major trade shows? Can you tell us what you’ll be exhibiting there?

If you are keen to find out more about OrderWise and our Warehouse Robotics, we will be exhibiting on Stand 20E66 at the IMHX in Birmingham on the 24th – 27th September. After that, you will also find us at the Robotics & Automation show in Coventry on the 29th and 30th October over on Stand 410.
