Port services provider Cuxport, a joint venture of Rhenus Group and HHLA Container Terminals GmbH has handled the two millionth car for BMW Group at the RoRo berth no.2 in Cuxhaven. The vehicle, which had earlier arrived by rail, was transported on board the Jutlandia Seaways vessel belonging to the DFDS shipping company.

To commemorate the occasion, several guests were invited to the ceremony including the Mayor of Cuxhaven, Dr Ulrich Getsch, and Enak Ferlemann, Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Representatives from the world of business, the UECC and DFDS shipping companies, the DB Cargo Logistics railway services provider and Hödlmayr International, were also invited to witness the milestone.

Cuxport has been shipping BMW vehicles to the British market for more than 15 years and is one of the leading providers for transhipping automobiles among the North Sea ports.

With new vehicles arriving at Cuxhaven by rail, as many as 2,000 cars can be loaded onto a single vessel. These cars are then sent to one of two places; Immingham on the east coast of England or Southampton on the south coast.
