A national supply chain solutions firm has joined forces with a Dutch counterpart to successfully deliver an end-to-end logistic solution with complex delivery requirements.

Northamptonshire-based logistics firm The NX Group was approached in 2018 by De Rijke Group, who had secured a relationship with a leading Dutch office furniture manufacturer that supplies products globally. The task was to transport a series of deliveries from The Netherlands to the offices of an international bank in central London.

Due to the access limitations and delivery restrictions of the bank’s location, smaller 18.5 tonne vehicles were required for the “final mile” of the deliveries. The NX Group was selected by De Rijke for meeting this requirement within its fleet. The two firms then partnered to jointly prepare a viable solution that would overcome these obstacles.

Henk Zuidgeest, Director of De Rijke Continental, said: “For this project, we were searching for a UK partner with similar values to our own, as well as the adaptability to cope with different transport schedules. A valid FORS accreditation and appropriately sized vehicles were also key.

“The NX Group met all of these criteria, liaised effectively with various teams on the ground and communicated regularly with us throughout the process. We were delighted with the result and hope to continue building a strong working relationship with The NX Group in the future.”

Neil Powell, Managing Director of The NX Group, said: “Initially this was a project that demanded comprehensive logistical operations. By working closely with De Rijke, the major installation partners and site project management teams, we managed to keep co-ordination straightforward and ensure that the office furniture reached its destination safely and seamlessly.

“The result was a highly successful solution with positive feedback from all parties, which has led to additional project-based work between De Rijke and The NX Group.”
