A thriving firm which has provided vital training to thousands of warehouse and construction workers has boosted its business continuity thanks to a temporary building.

Health & Safety Training (HST) Ltd is a key supporter of people working in, or aiming to work in, the logistics and construction sectors.

It runs accredited courses for employees who need to re-new their plant and machinery licences as well as for unemployed people who want to gain qualifications to secure a job.

In the past, HST taught attendees how to operate forklift trucks, cherry pickers and scissor lifts outdoors but when weather conditions were poor, it would be forced to postpone classes.

After a spate of bad weather, Managing Director Phil Binks decided urgent action was needed to address the issue.

Research

Phil carried out extensive research into his options – and found that the UK’s leading supplier of temporary buildings, Spaciotempo, offered the perfect solution to his predicament.

He explained: “British weather is reliably unreliable and when you are training outdoors you are at the mercy of the elements. In the past, when severe conditions have hit, we have had no choice but to postpone the training for health and safety reasons. That wasn’t good for our customers who had arranged their day-to-day operations around attending the sessions and it wasn’t good for HST. Now we have the new building, we don’t have to reschedule courses depending on the weather and attendees can carry out their training under shelter, whether that is from the sun, wind or rain!”

The Neivalu-style structure measures 15m wide x 30m long on an 8m eave, to accommodate the height of the machinery. It features a thermo roof and 40mm steel clad sandwich panels to provide insulation.

There are two personnel doors, one electric roller shutter door, five 90W LED lights and a 4.5m x 4.5m linkway to the existing permanent structure.

Phil added: “I looked into various ways to resolve the issue I was having and found that a temporary structure was by far the best option. The two main factors were the price and the time it would take to install the building. I wanted a solution that I could move quickly with, that would be durable and wouldn’t lead to a large, long-term financial commitment.

“Spaciotempo installed the new structure in two weeks and did an excellent job. The team was extremely professional throughout the entire process. The company stood out from the beginning as being head and shoulders above its competitors and we are delighted with the results it has achieved. The building looks smart and gives a positive and professional impression of HST. The installation could not have gone any more smoothly and we are all really thrilled with the outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend Spaciotempo to other businesses.”
