McVeigh Projects, the Cheshirebased specialist building and installation company, is having a record year, with recent contracts including a firewall partition in East London for FMCG logistics company Great Bear Distribution, a cold storage warehouse for long term customer Wrights Food Group, and a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) room for Rolls Royce, all constructed using the composite panels the company’s reputation is founded on.

Company director Matt McVeigh told Warehouse & Logistics News: “Our main focus is the food and drink industry, but we are increasingly also working with clients in other sectors. We have noticed a sharp growth of our business in the warehousing and distribution sector, where clients are choosing firewall partitions to protect valuable stock as part of their disaster recovery plan.”

McVeigh Projects began life in the 1940s, when Fred McVeigh, Matt’s grandfather, established a niche market in the refrigerated display and cold room cabinet business supplying local butchers and fishmongers. The family business soon expanded and using the latest insulation technologies the company began to manufacture insulated composite panels which were used to build large industrial cold stores and food production factories. In more recent times the business continues to use the latest composite panels in other applications such as external cladding, firewalls and factory partitions.

Looking at their latest contracts, McVeigh Projects carried out the Great Bear Distribution firewall project in conjunction with the builder. Matt McVeigh recalls:

“This particular warehouse was temperature-controlled, handling dairy products. Great Bear wanted to separate their stock to protect it from fire, so we installed a one-hour firewall. No two jobs we do are the same but what stood out about this one was the speed with which it was done. The client needed to remain fully operational while we were carrying out the work, and we delivered.”

Another recently completed project was for McVeigh’s longterm client Wrights Food Group. Peter Wright, Chairman & CEO at Wrights Food Group, told Warehouse & Logistics News:

“McVeigh Projects recently completed an extension to the original cold store we built at Crewe back in 2007. Over the last quarter of a century McVeigh Projects have become our preferred installation partner for cold room and Internal insulated wall panelling, working with us throughout our expansion during this period. Consequently, they have implemented a more than professional approach with their installation programme, giving us the best value for money service whilst providing a high level of quality and more importantly, a personal level of customer service, achieving hundred percent customer satisfaction in our case.”

For the Rolls Royce CMM room McVeigh Projects created a clean and contained setting, providing a controlled environment with exact temperature stability, where precision engineering can be carried out all year round.

McVeigh Projects work for all sizes of business, including directly for end users, main contractors and FM providers. McVeigh Projects are certified to LPS 1500, an installer scheme run by LPCB (Loss Preventions Certification Board) to ensure the correct installation of certified firewall systems. They are also accredited by Safe Contractor and Constructionline health & safety assessment schemes, confirming their ability to comply with health and safety requirements.
