With January 2019 being the most successful month on record for Hörmann UK’s projects department, we met with Project Director, Tom Langley, to find out what’s instore for Hörmann UK this year, and the latest developments within the warehousing sector.

2019 is off to a flying start for Hörmann UK’s Projects team, (part of the industrial division), with January being the most successful month on record. This also builds on the team’s achievements in 2018, which was the strongest year on record for the company.

So, what’s the secret to Hörmann UK’s industrial success? A refined and dedicated approach to each individual project.

A latest survey from property research firm CBRE* found that demand for UK warehouse space has almost doubled over the last 10 years, with over 235 million sq ft of warehouse space either purchased or leased between 2007 – March 2018. This figure is equivalent to more than 3,000 Wembley Stadiums, showcasing the sheer demand for warehousing units across the nation following the increase in demand placed by online retail and the pressures of same-day or next-day delivery.

In response to this, developers are working hard to provide the most innovative and accessible units available – and this is where Hörmann’s unique approach comes into its own, as each individual project is managed entirely differently to the next. This ensures the projects team doesn’t rush into every available opportunity, but takes the time to really understand the specific requirements of each project, drawing on its expertise within the warehousing, fire station and car showroom sectors.

By working closely with the developer and contractors from the initial stages, Hörmann UK can ensure it offers the highest standard of bespoke products, at the most competitive price. Nowhere is this more evident than through its long standing relationship with Europe’s largest industrial developer, Panattoni.

As a preferred supplier to the developer for a number of years, Hörmann UK’s Projects team works closely with Panattoni on each individual development to make sure the most effective products are specified in line with each property’s individual design.

This ‘can do’ attitude is also supported through Hörmann UK’s unique Architects Programme, which facilitates smarter real-time collaboration between architects, developers and contractors.

Planning can be easily achieved using the modern interface, providing tender specifications, images and drawings in both DWG and PDF formats, for more than 850 Hörmann products.

Ideal for use at the tender and specification stages, it provides access to a vast amount of CAD, technical drawings and BIM models, which can then be transferred into additional architectural software.

The Project department’s success can also be attributed to its continuous product development from its headquarters in Steinhagen, Germany, where the products team works closely with Hörmann’s engineers to develop solutions that are adapted and evolved following developer and end user feedback.

Reflecting this, Hörmann UK also now offers certified loading houses, CE-compliant with overall construction resistant to working stresses in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Products Regulation. The loading houses offer lean design inside and outside, whilst also being designed for roof load bearing capacities up to 1 kN/m² or 3 kN/m² as standard. This reflects its continued commitment to ensuring it provides architects, developers, contractors and end clients with the highest standard in loading technology.

2019 is just the start for Hörmann UK’s industrial division as it continues to take a unique and proactive approach to providing the nation’s industry with the highest standards in warehousing solutions and service.
