A dedicated Area Sales Manager at Spaciotempo will be flying the flag for Women in Construction at the biggest gathering of its kind in Scotland.
Natalie Balfour has been bestowed the honour of becoming an Ambassador for the Women in Construction Networking Event.
She will be joining other female role models on March 21 to promote the vital part women play in the industry’s success.
Natalie was hand-picked by the event organisers because of her commitment to promoting women in traditionally male-dominated professions.
She has long been a pioneer of the cause, embarking on her career when she enlisted in the Armed Forces at the age of 16.
Natalie, a mother of two sons, served for 12 years, taking on posts ranging from telecommunications officer to missile operator.
She also worked as a detention officer and an intelligence officer in Northern Ireland.
When she left the Forces, Natalie moved into the construction industry where she has built a successful career spanning more than a decade.
For the past five years, she has worked for the UK’s leading provider of temporary buildings – Spaciotempo – covering Scotland and the North East and North West of England.
Natalie, who has established a thriving Women’s Institute in Motherwell, said: “It is a real honour to have been asked to be an Ambassador at the Women in Construction Networking Event. I strongly believe that women have a vital part to play in helping the construction industry to achieve the level of success that it is capable of.
“There is no doubt in my mind that breaking down barriers in all parts of life, whether they are social, financial or professional, is essential to creating a happy, healthy and productive society. As women, our contributions are vital not only to the success of the companies we work for but for the wider business world and, as a result, the country.
“I’m looking forward to meeting other women who are passionate about and proud of working in the construction sector, particularly younger women who will be instrumental in shaping the industry’s future.”
A panel of experts will be leading a lively discussion on topics including diversity and equality as well as highlighting untapped opportunities for women in construction during the session from 10am-12.30pm.
