Birmingham-based European freight carrier Simpex Express has marked the start of its 10th anniversary year by pledging its support to official transport and logistics industry charity Transaid, signing up as a corporate member for the next three years.

The commitment to Transaid follows an extensive period of charitable giving for the company, which has supported worthy causes with donations of more than £100,000 during its first decade in business.

Simpex Express Managing Director, Simon Beechener, first became aware of Transaid at the British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Service awards, and knew that a corporate membership was the perfect way of pledging its support long-term to the international development organisation.

Beechener says: “We’ve built our business on very similar values to Transaid, and signing up as a corporate member felt like the best way we could help make a difference for what is a truly amazing organisation helping to save lives in sub-Saharan Africa.

“We really want to help raise awareness of Transaid’s work and encourage both our clients and suppliers to become involved too. As one of Transaid’s smaller corporate members, it’s positioned us alongside some of the biggest names in the transport and logistics industry and demonstrated that size is no obstacle to membership.”

As well as supporting Transaid through its three-year corporate membership, for every booking made, Simpex Express puts at least £1 into its charity fund which is donated to good causes at the end of each year.

Commenting on the new corporate membership, Caroline Barber, Chief Executive of Transaid, says: “It’s fantastic to welcome Simpex Express on board. This is a rapidly growing business that has placed its support for good causes at the heart of what it does from day one, and we’re naturally delighted they wanted to support our work to transform lives through safe, available and sustainable transport.”
