A successful Scania dealership which helps to keep the logistics and transport industry on the move has expanded with the help of a temporary building.

Scania Preston has seen a boom in business in recent years and urgently required additional workshop space to repair and service vehicles.

The company required an undercover, insulated space which could provide shelter for staff and vehicles when the winter weather hit.

It called upon the experience of its sister dealership in Widnes which already had a 200sqm temporary structure from Spaciotempo, the UK’s leading temporary building supplier.

Depot Manager Wayne Atherton said: “Our colleagues at Widnes had a Spaciotempo building when their business expanded and they recommended the company to us when we were in the same situation. It provided the ideal additional space for the mechanics to work in and didn’t require a large capital outlay.”

The team was so impressed with the Widnes facility, measuring 10m wide by 20m long with an eave height of 5m, that it contacted Spciotempo to enquire about installing a similar structure.

Sales Manager Dan Barker carried out a site survey and recommended a 10m wide x 15m long facility with an eave height of 6m.

To ensure team members were kept warm, the dealership, which serves North Wales and North West England, opted for a thermos roof and gable with a 50mm rock wall for added insulation.

The 150sqm Neivalu building features two electric roller shutter doors to allow heavy goods vehicles to be driven in and one personnel exit door. It also has four bright 90W LED lights.

Wayne added: “It was essential to the expansion of the business that we had an overflow workshop to cater for the increasing number of customers we are serving and to enable us to take on even more jobs. “Due to the colder weather, we needed somewhere that was warm and dry to create a positive work environment for our staff as well to keep the vehicles and parts dry.

We have added an inspection pit and the lights installed by Spaciotempo are more than bright enough to enable the mechanics to carry out the repairs. The installation process was smooth and quick, so we were up and running in no time.”
