Ahead of exciting new plans for its thriving packaging division due to launch later this year, Antalis Packaging has appointed a new senior packaging technologist in a bid to offer customers a truly personalised approach to their packaging needs.

Todd Smith joins the business in the newly-created position, bringing with him invaluable experience of modern packaging design and development, and the associated software, having previously worked as a CAD Designer for a protective packaging specialist.

Now active in his new role, the task ahead for Todd is two-fold. Primarily, he will oversee the running of the business’ new inhouse CAD design consultancy offer; to include creating new bespoke packaging ideas for customers, providing sample runs and testing their current packaging materials from other suppliers, in order to ensure they are getting the absolute best solution for their needs.

In addition, Todd will also play an active role in supplier relationships, regularly meeting with key manufacturers to ascertain new product developments and innovations which may be relevant for the Antalis portfolio.

Based at the packaging business’ Hilltop HQ, Coalville, Todd will report into head of the packaging technologist team, Jason Poxon. This latest move follows a six figure investment in new CAD design capabilities, as part of Antalis Packaging’s concerted focus on offering personalised consultancy to customers – with more in the pipeline for later this year.

Talking of the new appointment, Jason said: “Over recent years, the packaging industry has seen a real shift towards bespoke design and personalisation, both in terms of the aesthetics and functionality of a packaging concept. Aligned to this, Antalis Packaging is now able to provide bespoke packaging designs for customers in-house, enabling them to benefit from a unique pack design developed to their exact needs.”
