The new UniCarriers TX3 electric counterbalance truck stands out in all things design. The Red Dot Award jury of some 40 industry experts has noticed this too. They have awarded the truck the internationally recognised seal of quality in the category Product Design. The jury’s decision is based on a comprehensive assessment process in which the TX3 made a winning impression, thanks to its ProVision concept that ensures optimal, allround visibility. The award will be officially presented on 9 July 2018 during the Red Dot Gala at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.

During the product test, the TX3 was assessed against nine different criteria, including degree of innovation, ergonomics, functionality and durability. The jury were especially impressed by the truck’s exceptional combination of design and functionality. The construction of the chassis and mast uses the ProVision concept developed by UniCarriers, letting the driver benefit from a clear 360° view. The extremely low dashboard and two windows in the front panel for added visibility contribute to this effect. The latter are unique in the market to date and optimise the driver’s view of the fork tips and the front corners of the truck’s load. The result is the ability to handle goods in an exceptionally precise and safe manner. In addition, the novel design reduces the blind spot by around 10 per cent. The new Triplex mast, the slim roof columns and the roof’s chamfered front edge also help provide an optimal field of vision. The entry steps are low and the cabin is spacious so that the truck’s driver can enjoy a high level of comfort, and there’s plenty of legroom for taller drivers too. ‘Our new TX series features design for more than just design’s sake. It helps ensure that the truck can be operated ergonomically and safely. Winning the Red Dot Award is confirmation of our great aspiration for functional yet appealing construction, which is what we strive for in our ProVision concept’, explains Tobias Laxa, Group Marketing Director at UniCarriers.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design has been in existence since 1955. A specialist jury of international experts finds the year’s best products in an evaluation process that lasts several days. In 2018, designers and manufacturers from 59 nations submitted more than 6,300 objects to the competition.
