Combilift’s new factory, which was recently officially opened by the Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, is a showpiece of manufacturing excellence, designed to be future proofed for the further growth expected by this innovative company. Built at a cost of €50 million, the 46,500 sq. m facility is situated on a 100-acre site on the edge of Monaghan and is one of the largest manufacturing operations under one single roof in the Republic of Ireland. During the planning stages the focus was on sustainability and for energy saving operation wherever possible.

Solar panels supply 185 kW of energy and a 1Mw Biomass Boiler provides heating for the spray ovens and assembly lines when required. The biomass is fuelled by supplier pallets and 40 acres of willow has been planted on the company land elsewhere to ensure sufficient supplies. 110,000 litres of rain water are harvested for jet washing and bathroom facilities.23% of roof space is covered in skylights, enabling staff to work in natural daylight without the assistance of artificial lighting. Other lighting is provided through 1100 LED light with individual PIR sensors.
