WLN – Why should customers choose you as their main supplier in your area?

Goodlight is a very well-respected LED brand, by specifiers, installers and endusers.

We are very passionate about our products and take great pride in tech support and the sales service we offer. As the first UK manufacturer to offer a 5 Year Guarantee on LED lighting products in 2010, we pave the way for the industry to follow. Having pioneered LED products in the UK since 2006, we have a lot of expertise and experience delivering large, estate-wide LED projects for some of the UK’s most prominent organisations including WH Smiths, Pets at Home, New Look, Heathrow Airports, The British Library and more. Our customers benefit from our LED lighting experience, and the ability to build and modify products to suit specific installations, or support with complex lighting challenges.

As an innovator in award-winning product design and manufacture, we pack unique features into our LED products to ensure they remain the most reliable, and consistently bright on the market.

We have pioneered MagLev fan cooling with our high-powered LED lamps and the first manufacturer to use Phase Change Material (PCM) thermal cooling with our high-performance GX1 LED High Bay range to deliver the most efficient LED High Bay available – this is the same technology used to keep satellites cool in space! Goodlight is the right choice for those who take their buildings and site lighting seriously, and are looking for a performance-driven lighting range, that they can rely on year after year.

WLN – What’s business been like in the past year? How have conditions changed over this period and how have you reacted?

We have seen record demand for LED lighting solutions in industrial environments, and also in the retail sector. The market is very competitive, in certain volume-driven product categories, like LED panels. We have responded to this by launching new products with innovative premium features, which provide customers with more choice. Our Middle East operations have generated strong growth in the same period.

WLN – What were the business highlights for you in the last 12 months?

This year’s highlights have included some major new contract awards, including the Transport for London framework. We have had two more prestigious product award nominations, which is very encouraging. We have launched several new products, including Light Brain, our wireless lighting control platform. And we have achieved Accredited Supplier certification with the Carbon Trust.

WLN – What recent enhancements have you made in customer service?

Earlier this year, we invested in a new ERP system, which has improved our back-end manufacturing and inventory control, but designed to integrate fully with our supply chain and delivery partners, which is leading to a more streamlined customer service offering.

WLN – What new products have you brought out?

We have launched our Goodlight LED Batten Pack – designed to replace single and twin fluorescent fixtures, delivering 130Lm/W, featuring a hinged tray for speedy installation, and CCT colourswitchable light – from warm, to natural to daylight white, in the same fixture. On the industrial side, we have brought new options into our GX1 & GX2 High Bay range, with the GX2 Linear ideal for warehousing, distribution and shed retail sites, and the GX1 Low Bay suitable for lower ceiling heights.

And the end of 2017 sees the launch of Light Brain™, a wireless LED lighting control solution, which integrates with BMS, provides emergency light testing and is a fully maintained solution. It is the ideal partner to ensure lighting energy demand is managed to deliver the optimum performance, all based on usage.

WLN – Are you planning to branch into any new areas, target new customers and take on more people?

We see our entry into the lighting controls arena as very important in helping customers truly measure, understand and manage their energy usage from lighting. We believe this will deliver strong sales growth, as the addition of controls into our lighting portfolio makes an even stronger case for the switch over to LED lighting, and allows us to support our customers, in remote monitoring and maintenance of their lighting, which becomes a supply and service solution. This is what our customers and new opportunities are looking for.

WLN – Are you investing in new premises and extra staff? What about staff development and training?

We have been actively recruiting since June 2017 for new projects and support staff.

WLN – Are you involved in any major trade shows or other industry events over the next year?

After a disappointing year with large UK exhibitions in the energy and electrical sectors, due to low visitor attendances, we are looking at smaller, more targeted events, with stronger content around technology innovation to showcase our products to new markets.

WLN – What big news from LED Eco Lights can our readers look forward to seeing in Warehouse & Logistics News in 2018?

Our main drive for the next 2 years is to ensure that industrial users can automate their lighting, whilst keeping efficiency at its peak. We will continue to innovate and build exciting new products, including an LED SON lamp, which has been designed to retrofit into specific industrial Low Bay fittings.

WLN – And finally, if you had to sum up your company in a tweet what would it be?
