Reflecting on this year, 2017 has held many achievements for the Logistics and Supply Chain Specialists at Gideon Hillman Consulting (GH), of which just a few highlights include completing work for new and existing prestigious clients: from Beiersdorf and Travis Perkins, to NISA and Premier Foods to name but a few; not forgetting the implementation of their new CRM System – Hubspot – earlier this year; contributing further to their continual professional successes of 2017.

A combination of attending several trade shows, whilst simultaneously executing a thorough and planned marketing campaign via sector relevant industry magazines and websites as well as being invited as guest bloggers on sector relevant company websites, such as Gap and Cast has continued to act as a driving force behind GH’s brand awareness throughout 2017; an important development this year, driven and facilitated by GH Marketing Executive – Natasha Raymond.

With this strategy GH has also been able to significantly increase its online presence via multiple social media developments; which when combined with the use of the HubSpot Sales Pro and CRM modules connecting the whole consultant team directly with clients and prospects, has greatly improved GH’s reach throughout the Logistics Industry, exposing them to new and exciting clients, from SMEs to major corporations and PLCs increasing their ability to continually secure diverse new business throughout 2017 and 2018.

Highly regarded for their knowledge and expertise within the Logistics Industry, 2017 has witnessed GH securing contracts, and projects, with exciting new clients, of which involved supporting BUILT/ – a new and unique builders merchant e-commerce concept backed by leading industry player, Travis Perkins PLC.

BUILT/ had developed a brand new operating model for servicing building supplies, planning to operate an omnichannel retail model with a vast range of building supply essentials, offering stock, price, and transaction level visibility, designed to provide consistent, predictable and guaranteed services to its customers. The simple principle of preordering on line and on arrival at the depot, means the order has already been consolidated ready for loading onto the customer’s van at an allotted collection time, whilst additionally providing the facility to add to the order at time of collection, with the ultimate objective of reducing the time clients need to spend on site at a builders merchant whilst ensuring they can purchase all of the products needed for a job.

GH supported BUILT/ with the realisation of the concept, validating and developing their warehouse/depot layouts, workflows, processes, picking regimes, MHE requirements, SOPs (standard operating procedures), WMS functionality, customer service /interaction, Health and Safety measures, yard management, traffic marshaling, and general housekeeping with the first location opening in Aston, Birmingham in mid-2017.

Regularly exhibiting at Industry shows throughout 2017 has further contributed to GH’s continued success. Attending Intralogistex in March at the Ricoh, for the first time, followed by returning to Multimodal in April at the NEC; and most recently, this November saw GH attending the Food and Drink Logistics and Supply Chain Summit, held at the Ricoh Arena. All of which were events providing excellent networking opportunities, developing business relationships with new and existing clients and suppliers, ultimately providing a significant and quantifiable return on investment.

Once again GH senior management attended The UKWA Awards for Industry Excellence, which recognise the extraordinary achievement of individuals and companies operating in the Logistics industry; however, this time not as award finalists or winners but as event sponsors. Being firm believers in promoting and encouraging best practice in the warehouse, whilst recognising the importance of the role of warehouse managers and their pivotal role in businesses – GH chose to sponsor UKWA’s Warehouse Manager of the Year Award 2017.

Managing Director Gideon Hillman commented “We are very proud to be sponsoring this award as high-quality Warehouse Managers are paramount to effective and efficient logistics operations and have an impact on the whole supply chain”.

Planning the events diary for 2018, GH will be returning to the Ricoh Arena, and the NEC, having already booked their stands for 2018 trade shows Intralogistex (stand 159) Running from 27th to 28th February 2018, and Multimodal (stand 7026) Running from 1st – 3rd May 2018. GH have also booked their stand for IMHX 2019 (stand UK16) Running from 24th – 27th Sept 2019. As always, GH eagerly anticipate attending these shows.

Aside from professional targets, 2017 saw GH proudly support a charity Golf Tournament – to raise funds for continued research into a cure for the rare and progressive neurological condition – Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). The GH team supported this event by securing generous donations from two of its clients; Srixon Sports (a brand owned by Dunlop Sports which offers a full range of golf clubs, golf balls, and accessories) and Acushnet (manufacturers of Titleist golf balls as well as apparel and accessories under the brands FootJoy and Pinnacle), of which both companies provided generous prizes, allowing the winning team of four to each receive a Srixon SRX Z-FOUR Stand Bag.

For Gideon Hillman Consulting, 2017 has been an admirable year. With so many targets reached, the team are proud to promote their achievements for the year resulting in the need to recruit and strengthen the operational support and management team for 2018.

Managing Director Gideon Hillman FCMI FCILT FIC comments: “I am greatly impressed by our achievements over the last year, and thank my co-directors, our loyal consultant team, and the office team, without which, we could not continue to develop upon our client relationships, and business growth with such effectiveness”.
