The Maxwell air curtain from JS Air Curtains is capable of sealing large interior or exterior doorways with an invisible barrier of highvelocity air. It helps keep heat in and prevents cold air from entering while the door is open and in use. This improves the internal environment and reduces heating costs, while making staff more comfortable and therefore productive.
A very powerful flow of air is achieved due to the air curtain‘s double air outlets, capable of effectively sealing industrial doorways, such as a loading bay area. The air curtain can be mounted horizontally above an entrance up to seven metres high or 14 metres wide when situated vertically to the sides.
Air curtains offer a practical and economic alternative to fast-acting roller doors, as they eliminate the need for forklift drivers and staff to manually open and close doors. This makes moving from one area to another quicker, safer and more convenient. Repair costs to roller doors from forklift collisions are also eliminated. The inconvenience of PVC slat curtains, which quickly become dirty and opaque with use and frequently need cleaning, can also be avoided by installing air curtains. An effective barrier is created between two temperature zones, with total visibility and access at all times, improving safety and speed of operations.
The constant wall of air from the air curtain is also very effective at discouraging pests, such as rats and mice, which don’t like the sensation it creates on their fur. Air curtain systems also combat the ingress of flying insects, dust, smoke and fumes into a building.
The Maxwell air curtain incorporates low noise axial fans, which are driven by an external rotor motor from a single phase 230V/50Hz or with an optional three phase 400V/50Hz supply. Adjustable aerofoil shaped outlet vanes allow the air jets to be angled to provide the best possible seal across a doorway. Heating is through a hot water supply with an optional air only model available.
The casing is made of double chamber aluminium profiles and galvanised steel panels to provide a durable exterior. It is available in 1.5m, 2.0m and 2.5m lengths, which can be easily connected to fit the largest of doorways. It comes as standard in white RAL9016 with any RAL colour being supplied on request. A manual controller with five-speed fan selection, 10 metres of control cable and an infrared hand-held remote are included. The unit can also be connected to a BMS using protocol Modbus RTU.
A variety of different sensor and switch options can be combined with the Maxwell’s controllers, including door switches, so the unit only operates when the door is open, time switches, so the units activate during certain hours, and room thermostats, so a constant internal temperature can be maintained.
