Impact, the sole UK distributor for Konecranes Lift Trucks, has brought new levels of efficiency to the high utilisation handling environment with the delivery of a heavily customised Konecranes container handler to Bertschi UK, the bulk logistics specialists.

The 45 tonne reach stacker has a remarkable 33 tonne second row lifting capacity – two tonnes above that of an industry standard truck of that size – and will integrate into an extensive workload of more than 200 containers handlings per day at Bertschi’s Middlesbrough base.

The Bertschi UK team asked Impact’s local dealer in the North East, Advanced Material Handling, to supply the machine tailored to their specific container handling needs. Advanced, Impact and Konecranes then worked closely with Bertschi to ensure the final specification of the equipment would maximise efficiency within its application.

Bertschi UK Managing Director, Nick Brown, says “I was seriously impressed at the factory visit. It was such a valuable trip to make for us and the passion and commitment from everyone involved from the outset has been outstanding.

“When you’re moving more than 200 containers per day, it’s absolutely critical to have the right machine for the job, and I know this bespoke machine is the perfect truck for my fleet. I am also 100 per cent sure the support from Konecranes, Impact and Advanced Material Handling is the best I can get for my business.”

Brown adds: “The extensive spare parts stock reinforced my decision to specify the truck. I can’t afford unexpected downtime and it’s reassuring to know that if anything does happen, using Impact’s network, Advanced Material Handling can have our trucks back up and running within no time at all.”

Terry Kendrew, Managing Director at Impact commented “We are committed to supplying exactly the right machines for our customers’ needs and are proud to lead the market in innovative customised solutions that deliver real world savings. Combined with our extremely close working relationship with Konecranes, we are able to quickly identify and respond to customers’ requirements and provide them with solutions optimised to their operation with the lowest possible total cost of ownership”

The Konecranes reach stacker joins a fleet of four container handlers in operation, all serviced and maintained by Advanced Material Handling.
