Warehousing space is in demand across the UK, following an exceptional start to 2017 AKW are delighted to announce a further £250,000 investment in our Trafford Park Warehouses to ensure we remain ahead of the competition. It is intended to optimise space through the instillation of additional racking, improve safety and environmental measures, and provide an end to end consumer solution for our customers. This recent outlay, follows the whopping 2 million spend made in 2010 to increase capacity for the group.

In the interest of continuous improvement, a new state of the art fleet of 16 Forklift Trucks equipped with cutting edge technology arrived on the 26th July, which go towards achieving these objectives. Boasting features such as a full automated Forklift Control system, warning and impact sensors and an automated stop-start system to reduce emissions, we expect to see immediate positive results. Fob access control means we can ensure that only those with authorised access, current and relevant qualifications can operate the equipment.

Operations director Paul Welsh explained “The market is constantly changing for users of warehousing and value-added services, we must evolve with it; customising our approach to stay modern is at the forefront of everything we do. Gone are the days of dirty old dusty spaces where companies would store a few overflow pallets; we strive to emulate and further exceed the blue-chip industries in-house supply chain solutions, which has won us the loyalty of industry giants such as L’Oréal.

Managing director Julian Richards summarised “We are constantly demanding more for ourselves and our customers, consumer fulfilment is another area we have heavily invested in; ensuring we have the capabilities to provide an end to end service for our customers, with the ability to pick and ship directly to the consumer. Our new Warehouse Management System means we now have more than adequate technological capabilities to do this.
