Transdek UK has installed the latest version of its mezzanine lift at a new storage facility in Harrogate for Bettys & Taylors Group, which produces Yorkshire Tea, the third best selling tea in the UK.

The company started in 1919 with the opening of the first iconic Bettys Café Tea Rooms in Harrogate. Nearly 100 years later Bettys & Taylors is still a family business with six Bettys Café Tea Rooms, a Craft Bakery, a Cookery School, online shop and one of the country’s most respected tea and coffee merchants, Taylors of Harrogate.

Due to expansion, Bettys & Taylors acquired an additional building adjacent to its main Plumpton Park site to act as a flexible multi function facility, with areas for POS (point of sale) merchandise and catering equipment. The lift was precision engineered to fit within a restricted space and enables Bettys & Taylors to effectively maximise utilisation of the upper level storage space within the 900 sq m (10,000 sq ft) building.

“The new Transdek mezzanine lift was quickly fitted, is very robust and really easy to operate. It is perfect for our requirements,” said Homi Tehrani, Project Technician – Site Development at Bettys & Taylors.

“From the sales department to the installation team everyone has provided an excellent professional service. “It was also great to deal with another innovative Yorkshire company that has the same high values of delivering exceptional customer service and quality products.”

The lift for Bettys & Taylors includes new design features as standard on Transdek’s latest range of mezzanine floor lifts, with the award-winning manufacturer investing in product development to make them more durable, effective and versatile for operators. The main changes to the new lift models include a new ram box design, software updates and improved operator controls as standard on every machine.

Leon Butler, Sales Director at Transdek, said: “We are always looking at ways to enhance operational efficiency and incorporate new features that make our proven mezzanine lift design more flexible for our varied customer base.

“As well as ensuring our lifts always meet the highest safety standards, we engineer our products so that they deliver reliable solutions on a day-in, day-out basis. All our equipment undergoes thorough quality control checks before leaving our Harworth factory and is installed by fully trained Transdek engineers.”

Transdek’s mezzanine floor lifts are designed to carry up to one tonne U.D.L (uniformly distributed load), which makes them ideally suited to the lifting of medium to light weight, or bulky, products. An ultra slim lift deck enables the lift platform to lower flush with the floor at ground level, allowing easy access for pallets and trolleys for quick loading.
