The upgrading of Q4 Bathroom’s warehouse lighting with a high-efficiency high bay solution from Lumilow Lighting has yielded a remarkable 53% reduction in energy consumption.

Legacy lighting

Wholesale business Q4 Bathrooms supplies more than 5,000 quality product lines to retail and trade merchants from its busy distribution centre in North Yorkshire. The company approached Lumilow for a solution to help reduce the high electricity use in its warehouse operations.

Originally, Q4’s warehouse had 40 metal halide fittings, a technology notorious for greedy energy consumption. The metal halides were also causing a heavy maintenance burden as they required regular replacing.

High efficiency warehouse lighting

To address the challenge, Lumilow’s technical team engineered a replacement lighting solution, featuring next generation LED Highbays. The products have been designed to provide the high quality light output needed for a warehouse environment, combined with the highest possible levels of energy efficiency. The results have been fast, well managed, and outstanding. Lumilow’s solution has delivered 53% energy savings, equivalent to £6,745 per annum. Best of all, payback will come in at less than 18 months.

Reducing the maintenance burden

As well as enjoying the benefits of crisp, uniform light, the new LED lamps offer a very long lifespan which significantly reduces the need for maintenance. This makes for safer operations, cash savings and a more efficient working environment overall.

“More and more businesses are realising the huge energy and cost benefits that can be achieved by replacing energy intensive lighting with LED equivalents,” comments Andy Chell, Managing Director, Lumilow. “For every warehouse manager in the UK, we strongly believe that lighting is an integral part of how your business functions. Along with better, clearer lighting comes better visibility for staff, increased productivity and improved health and safety.

“Those are crucial elements, that will help you to more successfully win longer term contracts. We believe business for the future is defined by putting in the right measures today. In this case, a futureproofed, well-lit warehouse is a warehouse that’s fit for modern business.

“With this in mind, we appeal to all UK business to really consider whether their light is fit for purpose. And if it’s not, then act.”
