Barnes Logistics is one of the UK’s leading logistics and warehousing companies, and they are looking forward to next year after an extremely successful 2016. The past year has seen incredible business expansion throughout the months with new vehicles, staff members and premises.

Chris Barnes, MD of Barnes Logistics.

Established in 2005, Barnes has been growing from strength to strength. In the past year alone, Barnes Logistics acquired 13 new vehicles consisting of 10 Scania R440 6×2 tractors and 3 Scania P230 18 tonne box bodies. This equated to an investment of almost £750,000 and took their fleet to over 60 vehicles.

Chris Barnes, MD of Barnes Logistics, comments, “By adding new vehicles to our fleet we were able to extend our range and reach and service the high level of demand we are experiencing for our logistics business. We’re confident this demand will continue into 2017 as we extend our client relationships into new and rewarding business sector and we are ready to match the ever-growing demand for effective logistics solutions.”

Given the new size of the fleet, Barnes Logistics took the decision to move to larger premises. Previously based in Oldham, in May Barnes Logistics moved to their new offices in Rochdale.

The four acre site in Cowm Top Lane, Rochdale is now their national headquarters and is the principal home of the company. The site works in conjunction with Barnes Logistics’ other sites in Coventry and Durham.

Not only do these new headquarters accommodate the Barnes vehicles, but also benefitted from two office blocks and 50,000 sq. ft. of state of the art, quality warehousing. The new Barnes headquarters are also conveniently located near to excellent road networks – being less than two miles from the M62, providing great access not only to the North West but to all of the UK.

Chris Barnes noted, “Rochdale provides us with a strategic location in terms of the transport network as well as the additional room we need for growth. As our new headquarters, it’s ideal for our fleet of vehicles to service the entire UK, while the warehousing adds additional quality facilities to our client offering.”

With a larger fleet and new base, it was time for Barnes Logistics to expand their teams. Barnes welcomed 3 new members of staff to the business, working across both the transport and HR departments. Furthermore, Barnes also employed more drivers in 2016 than ever before with over 100 drivers on the road every day.

With these promising figures from 2016, Barnes Logistics is looking forward to future successes and accomplishments.
