A-SAFE, the company who revolutionised the health and safety barrier industry with its innovative polymer based barriers, has been honoured with a prestigious award for its latest RackEye invention. The company capped a successful showing at IMHX, the UK’s largest logistics event, with a Design4Safety accolade in the racking & storage category.

James Clark, Secretary-General, British Industrial Truck Association (BITA), who headed up the judging panel with fellow industry experts, praised A-SAFE for its offering – after saying that the product was his own personal favourite.

He said: “A-SAFE has clearly developed a complete round-theclock revolution in racking incident reduction and the judges were very impressed with the many individual factors that RackEye utilises. “This entry concentrated on the safety of racking in the work place and the ever present potential for racking collapses.”

RackEye offers real-time, 24-hour rack monitoring in between inspections and solves an age-old problem in the material handling industry, namely ‘dead time’ between inspections.

The product is the first of its kind and uses patented sensors that have been developed and rigorously tested to differentiate between everyday bumps and impacts causing damage. A-SAFE’s group sales director Kieran MacCourt said: “Any shock sensor can monitor impacts. The intelligence is identifying and recognising which impacts have caused damage to racking legs and alerting only for these.

“As a result, RackEye avoids false alarms and can pinpoint the damage to a specific rack leg location so immediate action can be taken. Alerts can be emailed to anywhere in the world.”

A-SAFE’s presence at IMHX also provided an invaluable opportunity to talk face-to-face with professionals within the material handling industry about the issues they face, whilst sharing the unique benefits of its safety solutions. An impressive 108sqft stand attracted scores of visitors keen to learn more about A-SAFE’s range of pioneering barrier systems and its latest innovation.

Kieran, who presented daily safety seminars at the NEC, added: “Our eye-catching stand brought our products to life in a really effective manner and generated huge interest.

“We communicated the exclusive benefits of RackEye’s patented technology, which resonated with visitors to the stand and addressed real issues they experience.

Businesses simply don’t know if their racking is safe on a continuous basis. It is also difficult to ascertain whether damage has been missed as it is often hard to see with the naked eye, or to keep track of cumulative damage which can be the most serious.

“We believe we have a product that will make a significance difference to companies across a broad range of industries. This message was welcomed by both visitors to the stand and seminar audience members, making our presence at IMHX extremely rewarding.”
