Business is booming for leading industrial door and loading bay manufacturer Hörmann and one area that has enjoyed a surge in demand is the service department. Hörmann has made a number of changes and improvements to its core offering recently and is now reaping the rewards with 30-40 per cent of projects now being sold with a service contract.

In the past year, Hörmann has invested considerably in its service department and has already introduced a new flexible sales team to provide an allencompassing service across both the industrial and domestic ranges. As well as employing more field engineers, Steve Hadfield was appointed as Industrial Product Technical Support and Training Engineer to provide additional technical support when required. The benefits of these changes will be passed on to the customers in faster response times and a higher quality of service with a better first time fix rate.

Improvements have been made to the training provided by the manufacturer. As well as working directly with end customers, Hörmann trains its network of trade partners on all technical aspects of its products, from specification and fitting to maintenance and repair. In addition, a variety of training and seminar options are being held at the UK headquarters and the Hörmann Forum, a new training and exhibition centre in Germany.

A range of different levels of maintenance packages is now available to suit the varying needs of customers. The “premium plus” package, for instance, includes expert training from Hörmann’s team so that in-house engineers will be able to undertake basic maintenance, thereby minimising the need for costly call outs. As well as providing competitive maintenance contracts on all Hörmann products, the company is now offering to service any brand of industrial door or loading bay as part of its flexible packages.

Round the clock call outs are available for emergency maintenance and customers can even enjoy a discount of up to 10 per cent on Hörmann replacement parts and labour. All of Hörmann’s engineers are equipped with tablet computers that allow them to instantly update service and asset records. Not only does this facilitate easier reporting, but it also means more time can be spent on site.
